Recent Survey Reveals Many Americans Favor Impeaching Donald Trump

A new survey shows growing public backing for impeaching President Donald Trump โ€” again. Conducted by Lake Research Partners, the poll found that 46% of likely 2026 voters in key swing districts support impeachment, with 45% expressing strong support. Overall, 56% disapprove of Trumpโ€™s job performance. Trump, already the first U.S. president impeached twice, was acquitted by the Senate both times โ€” first in 2020 over his phone call with Ukraineโ€™s president, and again in 2021 for allegedly inciting the January 6 Capitol riots.

Now, legal advocacy group Free Speech For People is pushing for a third impeachment, citing 25 potential grounds. Among them:
Abuse of Power: Critics say Trump used federal agencies like the DOJ and FBI to target political opponents, prompting key resignations.
Military Overreach: He deployed federal forces in U.S. cities and threatened to send troops into Chicago.

Free Speech Concerns: Trump has publicly attacked media outlets and threatened networks airing content critical of him.
Immigration Crackdowns: His expansion of ICE raids and controversial detention sites has drawn human rights criticism.

Activists argue Trumpโ€™s actions represent โ€œan existential threatโ€ to U.S. democracy. Whether Congress acts remains to be seen, but public sentiment โ€” as the poll suggests โ€” is shifting toward accountability.
