It started like any other evening. The house was quiet, the lights dimmed, and the man settled onto his couch after a long day. But that’s when he noticed it — a faint, unpleasant smell drifting through the air. At first, he brushed it off.
Maybe something had spoiled in the kitchen, or perhaps the trash needed to be taken out. But the scent didn’t go away. In fact, with each passing day, it grew stronger — heavier — until it became impossible to ignore.
The odor seemed to follow him everywhere. It clung to the air in his bedroom, snuck into the living room, and filled the hallways. He cleaned, he scrubbed, he sprayed air fresheners. Nothing worked. The smell was unlike anything he’d ever encountered — deep, earthy, and oddly sour. Whatever it was, it wasn’t coming from anything visible. That’s when an unsettling thought crossed his mind: What if it’s coming from inside the wall?
