WASHINGTON — Alarm spread across social media after posts began circulating that former President Donald Trump had allegedly been “shot again” in Washington, D.C. The dramatic claims quickly generated widespread reactions, but no credible evidence has emerged to support reports of a new shooting.
No confirmed statement from federal law enforcement, the Secret Service, a hospital or another authoritative source has established that Trump was attacked or injured in Washington. Major news organizations have likewise not reported a verified shooting involving the former president.
Viral Posts Fuel Confusion
The claims appear to have spread primarily through unverified social media accounts and posts using sensational language. In some cases, recycled footage, old images or misleading captions can create the appearance of a new event when the underlying material is unrelated or outdated.
