We were sitting at Waffle House, just me and my 5-year-old son, Josiah, when he spotted a man standing outside. His clothes were worn, his face tired, and he carried everything he owned in a small, tattered bag.<\/p>\n
\u201cMom,\u201d Josiah whispered, tugging at my sleeve. \u201cWho is that?\u201d<\/p>\n
glanced over. \u201cI think he might be homeless, sweetheart.\u201d<\/p>\n
Josiah\u2019s little face scrunched in confusion. \u201cWhat does that mean?\u201d
\n\u201cIt means he doesn\u2019t have a home,\u201d I explained softly. \u201cAnd he might not have food either.\u201d<\/p>\n
That was all it took. Before I could stop him, Josiah jumped out of his seat and ran to the man, waving him inside like an old friend.
