Coldplay Concert Scandal Sparks Resignation, HR Chief Still on Leave<\/p>\n
Kristin Cabot, HR executive at US data company Astronomer, remains on leave after a viral moment at a Coldplay concert sparked an alleged affair scandal involving her and CEO Andy Byron.<\/p>\n
Shortly after, Byron resigned as CEO. Astronomer confirmed his departure via LinkedIn, adding that co-founder Pete DeJoy would serve as interim CEO. \u201cWhile awareness of our company may have changed overnight, our product and commitment to customers remain,\u201d the company stated.<\/p>\n
Cabot, however, is still listed as HR chief on Astronomer\u2019s website, prompting speculation about her employment status.<\/p>\n
Employment attorney Nicole Brenecki explained that high-level terminations are often delayed by legal reviews and contracts. \u201cIn a big company, you can\u2019t just fire someone because the headlines are ugly,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
Attorney William Cafaro suggested that Cabot\u2019s exit may be in negotiation. \u201cIf you were to look up \u2018cause\u2019 for firing, it might be a photo of the head of HR having a public affair with the CEO,\u201d he noted.<\/p>\n
Despite the controversy, co-founder Pete DeJoy acknowledged the unexpected publicity. \u201cWhile I wouldn\u2019t have wished for it to happen like this, Astronomer is now a household name,\u201d he wrote.<\/p>\n
